Every fifth second someone in the world develops Alzheimer’s disease. There is a huge need for more research and effective treatments. September 2017 marks the sixth World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds the disease.
At BioArctic we are convinced that we can impact devastating diseases like Alzheimer’s disease by science. We are working with five Alzheimer projects. Our most advanced project, BAN2401, is an antibody against what we believe is damaging the brain. A Phase 2b clinical trial with 856 early Alzheimer’s disease patients is ongoing in the US, EU, Canada, Japan and South Korea.
We are proud of what we have accomplished so far, but we realize that there are still many challenges remaining in the war against Alzheimer’s disease – war that it is essential to fight!
World Alzheimer’s Day
Professor Lars Lannfelt, co-founder of BioArctic, is one of the presenters at a theme day held in Stockholm, Sweden, on the World Alzheimer’s Day, September 21. The title of Professor Lannfelt’s presentation is “Will immunotherapies stop or cure Alzheimer’s disease?” The seminar is arranged by the Alzheimerfonden.
